Flat-pack furniture arrives as a stack of heavy boxes, a bag of a hundred small parts and a booklet of wordless diagrams. The first few steps go fine. Then a panel goes on backwards, a cam lock will not turn, and by the time the drawers are in, one of them does not close square. A big wardrobe can take an inexperienced person most of a weekend and two people to lift.
We assemble flat-pack furniture in homes and offices across Berwick, Narre Warren and the City of Casey. We bring the tools, work through the instructions properly, adjust doors and drawers so they run smoothly, anchor tall pieces to the wall, and can take the cardboard away when we finish.

Why have it assembled professionally
It is done right
Flat-pack relies on every step being done in the right order with the right parts. A panel fitted the wrong way round can mean taking half the unit apart again. Experience with how these systems work means fewer mistakes and a sturdier result.
It is done faster
What might take you a day often takes us a fraction of that time, because we know the hardware types, have the right drivers and work methodically.
Doors and drawers are adjusted
The final adjustments are what make furniture feel well made. Hinges on wardrobe doors need tuning so gaps are even and doors close flush. Drawer runners need aligning so drawers glide and sit straight. Sliding doors need their rollers set. We take the time to get this right.
Tall items are anchored
Tall furniture must be anchored to the wall to prevent tipping. Most flat-pack wardrobes, bookcases and drawers come with an anti-tip kit, but the fixings supplied are often only suited to certain walls. We fix them into studs or masonry with appropriate hardware.
Wardrobes and large units
Large wardrobe systems are the most demanding flat-pack jobs. They are heavy, tall and often assembled lying down and then stood up, which needs space and two people. In rooms with low ceilings or downlights, standing a wardrobe up can be tricky; we plan the build so it can be raised safely. Built-in-style systems may also need to be scribed or adjusted to uneven floors and walls. We level the base so doors hang true, then fit and adjust doors, drawers and internal fittings.
Beds, cots and bunks
Beds and cots need to be solid and safe. Cots must be assembled exactly as the instructions specify so the mattress base and sides meet safety requirements. Bunk and loft beds need guard rails fitted correctly and ladders secured. We double-check every fixing on these items before handing them over.
Office furniture
Home offices and small businesses often need desks, chairs, storage and workstations assembled at once. We can assemble and position office furniture, mount monitor arms, and add cable trays. For businesses in Hallam’s industrial estate or offices around Narre Warren and Berwick, we can schedule work to suit your trading hours. See also our commercial handyman services.

Outdoor furniture and play equipment
Outdoor settings and storage boxes are straightforward. Larger outdoor items such as playhouses, cubby houses, swing sets and climbing frames need firm, level ground and sometimes anchoring into the ground. We assemble these to the instructions and can anchor them where the kit includes ground anchors. Trampolines and large play structures may need more space and time; tell us the model when you request a quote.
Garden sheds from kits
Small steel or resin garden sheds from kits are popular for storing mowers and tools. They need a level, solid base such as a concrete slab or timber platform, and they need to be anchored so wind does not move them. We can assemble kit sheds on an existing suitable base. Larger sheds may need a building permit, and new concrete slabs are a job for a concreter.
What to have ready
- All boxes delivered and in or near the room where the item will go
- Enough clear floor space to lay out panels
- Any wall anchors or brackets supplied with the furniture
- Check deliveries for missing or damaged boxes before the visit if you can
If a part is missing or damaged, we will identify exactly which one so you can request a replacement from the retailer, and we can come back to finish.
Disposing of packaging
Flat-pack generates a lot of cardboard and plastic. We can break down the boxes and stack them for your recycling bin, or take them away. See odd jobs and rubbish removal.
Disassembly and moving
Moving house? Many flat-pack items cannot be moved fully assembled without damage. We can disassemble wardrobes, beds and large units before the move and reassemble them at the new place. We bag and label hardware so nothing goes missing. If you are moving within Casey, from an older home in Hampton Park to a new estate in Lyndhurst for example, we can do both ends.

Fixing furniture that was assembled badly
Sometimes furniture was assembled in a hurry and now wobbles, sags or has drawers that stick. We can often fix it by re-tightening cam locks, replacing stripped fixings, re-squaring the frame, adding the back panel nails that were skipped, and adjusting hinges and runners. If particleboard has blown out around a fixing, we can repair it with inserts or reinforcing blocks in many cases.
Adapting flat-pack to your space
Real rooms are rarely perfectly square, and skirting boards, power points and window frames can get in the way. We can scribe or notch panels for skirtings, cut access holes for power points, and fit filler panels for a built-in look. These are carpentry adjustments, and we discuss them with you before cutting anything, because modifying furniture may affect any warranty.
Moving into a new estate
New homes in Lynbrook, Lyndhurst, Berwick Springs and Narre Warren South often come with an empty house and a delivery truck full of flat-pack boxes. Combining assembly with hanging pictures, fitting curtain rods and anchoring furniture into one visit is efficient. Send us a list of everything, with brand and product names where possible, and we will quote the lot so you can settle in quickly.

How we estimate time
Every product is different, but we can estimate reasonably well from the brand and product name, because we can review the instructions in advance. That is why we ask for product details when you request a quote. It lets us bring the right tools and give you an accurate quote rather than a guess.
Particleboard, MDF and solid timber
Most flat-pack furniture is made from particleboard or MDF with a melamine or veneer finish. These materials are strong when assembled correctly but do not tolerate overtightening, repeated reassembly or moisture well. Screws that are driven too hard strip the board, and cam locks that are not seated properly loosen. We use hand tools or low clutch settings on drivers for final tightening, and we keep assembled furniture clear of wet areas where possible. Solid timber and metal furniture is more forgiving but heavier, and parts often need careful alignment before bolts are tightened.
Tools and care in your home
We bring drivers with adjustable clutches, hex keys, mallets, clamps, levels and spare fixings of common sizes, plus drop sheets or blankets to protect floors while panels are laid out. Large panels are carried and turned carefully to avoid scuffing walls, door frames and freshly painted surfaces. Where furniture goes on timber or hard floors, we can fit felt pads to the feet so it can be moved without scratching.
Assembly for landlords and agents
Furnished rentals and short-stay properties need furniture assembled quickly between guests or tenancies. We can assemble, position and anchor furniture in empty properties when you arrange access, and send photos when it is done. For property managers looking after several properties around Casey, see our property managers page.
Seniors and people who cannot lift
Flat-pack is heavy and awkward, and assembling it means kneeling, lifting and twisting. For older residents, people recovering from injury or anyone who simply does not want to wrestle with a wardrobe, we can handle the whole job, from unboxing to placing the finished item where you want it and taking the packaging away.
Checking the finished piece
Before we hand over, we check the unit is level and square, every door closes flush, drawers run smoothly and stop properly, shelves sit on all their pins, and anti-tip fixings are tight. Spare parts and instructions are left with you for future reference.
Frequently asked questions
How long does flat-pack assembly take?
It depends on the item. Simple pieces may be quick, while large wardrobe systems take longer. If you send the brand and product names, we can review the instructions and give an accurate quote.
Do you anchor furniture to the wall?
Yes. We anchor tall items such as wardrobes, bookcases and drawers into studs or masonry with suitable fixings, which is an important safety step.
What if a part is missing?
We identify exactly which part is missing or damaged so you can request a replacement from the retailer, and we can return to finish the assembly when it arrives.
Can you take away the packaging?
Yes. We can break down and stack cardboard for your recycling bin or take the packaging away for you.
Can you assemble outdoor play equipment and sheds?
We assemble many outdoor furniture items, playhouses, play equipment and small kit sheds on suitable level bases. Larger structures may need a permit or a concrete slab poured by a concreter first.
